Sandro Zorzi among the winners of 2026 Canada–Italy Innovation Award 

Sandro Zorzi, researcher in the HyRES unit of the Center for Sustainable Energy, is among the winners of the 2026 Canada–Italy Innovation Award with the project HyWeCAN – (Hydrogen Water Electrolysis through Canadian-itAlian Nexus) developed in partnership with the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières.

The award, presented by the Embassy of Canada in Italy, recognizes four outstanding projects that showcase the strength of scientific cooperation between the two countries.

The Canada-Italy Innovation Award aims to enable new partnerships between Canadian and Italian experts and deepen existing collaborations to deliver innovations that have impact. It provides funding to members of the Italian innovation ecosystem including start-ups, innovation experts, researchers, scientists, or creative industry professionals to develop collaborative projects with Canadian partners in areas that will drive innovative, inclusive and sustainable socio-economic development.
