Sankar Siva Balaganesh Ravi

Siva Balaganesh Ravi Sankar is a PhD student in Industrial Innovation at the University of Trento, working at the Centre for Sustainable Energy at Fondazione Bruno Kessler (FBK) in collaboration with UFI Hydrogen.

His research focuses on developing catalyst-coated substrates (CCS) for proton exchange membrane (PEM) water electrolysis using advanced thin-film deposition techniques, aimed at creating stable, high-performance catalysts for acidic oxygen evolution reactions (OER) to reduce reliance on critical raw materials.

He holds an MSc in Materials Engineering from Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden, and completed his master’s thesis and full-time internship at PowerCell Group, where he conducted in-depth characterization and analysis of gas diffusion layers (GDLs) for PEM fuel cells, focusing on their bulk properties, pore structure, and gas transport resistance.
