Luigi Crema at the European Hydrogen Skills Conference

Green Skills for Hydrogen Stakeholders Conference: The Green Skills for Hydrogen project helps meet the challenging REPowerEU 2030 targets for the Green Transition. The growth of the hydrogen industry presents a significant economic and environmental opportunity for Europe, but it also creates considerable labour market challenges. From producing 150,000 tonnes of renewable hydrogen per year in 2020, the European Union aims to increase its production and imports of clean hydrogen to a total of 20 million tonnes per year by 2030, following the European Hydrogen Strategy and the REPowerEU Plan. The rapid development of the European hydrogen value chain over the coming years is expected to generate approximately 1 million highly skilled jobs by 2030, and up to 5.4 million by 2050.

On March 19, the European Hydrogen Skills Conference took place in Brussels. Our Director Luigi Crema as President of Hydrogen Europe Research participated as

  • as panelist in the High-Level Panel Discussion – Upskilling and Reskilling for the Energy Transition, with top speakers from Skillnet Ireland, Siemens Energy, DVGW CERT GmbH and the Basque Hydrogen Corridor
  • keynote speaker with the talk “Research and skills development: key elements for the hydrogen sector in Europe”
